Love the tone! August 30, 2012

I recently purchased one of David's loaded pick-guards with the quick-connect feature.  The installation was a breeze with that and I managed to get the guitar fully shielded--install the pick-guard--set the guitar up for intonation on 11's--all in a little over an hour.  Now let's talk about the tone.
I firmly believe that David Allen has a sixth sense when it comes to winding pickups.  This loaded pickguard is just amazing.  The tone is balanced, warm, and clear---and the 2 and 4 quack positions sound like you'd want them to---even with the humbucker, which splits really nicely.  The guitar I put it in was a barely used Mexi-strat I picked up at a pawn shop for cheap.  Adding this pickguard just made it sound even better than the HSS American strat I used to own.  Really incredible!  
Like I mentioned earlier, David has a special gift when it comes to tone and winding pickups.  If you are looking for a quick upgrade for a HSS strat---look no further! Austin Blues HSS set
