A work of art at its best from a master crafter. These are the best sounding single coil pickups I've ever played and I've played different kinds. David, keep up the good work and change the sound of music. Best wishes!

5 of 5 69 VooDoo's Awesome!! May 27, 2016

I love em! They are wonderful sounding & working things.

Strong clear non over powering Bass, clear mids and highs with no harsh icepick . Even when tone and volume dimmed.
They give me just the right amount of thick OD through my 5e3 cranked without getting too muddy . Which made for a nice woman tone! They are very well balanced have a nice swirl to them , great woody tone .
THe 2 & 4, sound less muddy then any other pickups I have had, and the quack is fantastic.
Mid. pup alone nails the Anson Funderburg thang! So I am sold. LOL

They do have that character going on ,but at the same time they have something unique that I can not put into words, like they got more soul I guess. They are very pick sensitive.

The stuff about them being quieter than others is correct .They are noticably so as compared to CS Fender or 57/62 etc.

5 of 5 I'm excited! August 3, 2015

These are similar in the neck to Fender Custom 69's but they have a hair more bass. I would say as a whole, the differences make these far more usable in all positions, whereas before I had difficulty using anything besides the neck in custom 69's by fender. I would also say the CS 69's by fender have a hair more transparency, but I think you can also lower/raise the pickup height to get in the ball park either way for the Voodoo SSS pickups.

As a whole, I'm VERY pleased with these. The biggest advantage is they are noiseless in 2 & 4, as well as overall very little noise in 1, 3 & 5. The quality of construction and delivery is also on point, very happy with the purchase and they helped resolve issues I was having before.

5 of 5 Addictive tone January 16, 2015

I've had these pickups for about a year now, and every time I take out my Strat and play those first few notes, I get a tingle: They were exactly how I imagined a great late-60's Strat pickup set to sound like. Very difficult to stop playing one you start. Many thanks.

5 of 5 Best singlecoil set ever! October 17, 2014
Reviewer: Henrik Moeller
I have used alot - and I mean alot - of different pickups in my CS Strat to find the sound which is perfect for me! And this is it!! I really like the sound of these PU´s in all 5 positions. Each positions has its own distinct and great sound. There is also even volume in all positions which I like! I ordered non rw/rp and i gives - at least mentally - a little edge. It is obviously very fine craftsmanship with attention to every detail! These are 69érs with some very nice twists.
I could go on and on and on, but let me just say: My search is over!!

5 of 5 Diligent craftsmanship May 13, 2012

For those of you debating whether to get these, or another particular set of 69 pickups, let me tell you something first.
If there is one word that I could use to summarize these pickups, it would be "detail", because that’s exactly what separates these pickups from the others.
These pickups are not slapped together; each individual pickup in the set is handled differently, as its own unique design, not 3 copies of an identical design.
Each one has its own individual purpose and its own special qualities. You couldn't take one, switch its place with the other and expect the same results, because each one deliberately was created to suit its own position. These kinds of subtle details in the construction are nothing short of remarkable, and this is proudly shown in its tone.
If that wasn’t enough, each set is constructed entirely by hand and scatterwound to ensure quality and David Allen himself is standing by to answer any questions or concerns you have.
SO I RECOMMEND THEM.

5 of 5 Voodoo Baby! April 23, 2012

My experience with D Allen pickups from the start was great. I emailed him with a few questions and he responded promptly with valuable information to help me choose a set of pickups.I dropped the pickups in today along with a fat new tone capacitor that i have already noticed made a nice difference. The pickups themselves are nice looking and feel quality built. The sound is rich, and holds great sustain. They responded very well to distortion and my wah pedal.

Awesome pickups at a great price!
Thank You
