I own a Fender Deluxe Strat with rosewood neck, swamp ash body, and Callaham bridge. It's had the N3 noiseless pickups for three years so I know them very well. They can get Fenderish sounds and some decent quacks. I was curious what a pickup change could do. The FlatTops brought my Strat to life! Compare to the N3s, these things are BONKERS! My guitar is touch sensitive and dynamic in a way it has never been before. Notes and chords are rich and articulate. There is this lush juiciness that I hear reminiscent of SRV. On my start, the neck pickup is warm with a richness that captures all my strings' subtle articulations. (almost flush to the pickguard); the middle pickup is now incredibly usable and dynamic (elevated about 2mm and 3mm at high e); the bridge sounds tight and is not brittle (elevated 3mm and 4mm at high e); positions 2 and 4 offer delicate and glassy quacks. These pickups have given my Strat more depth than I could have imagined. Well done Mr. Allen!

I emailed David asking what set he would suggest for something that was really midsy, had a decent enough output to push pedals without overdriving my amp when clean, that would handle distortion really well, and had a ton of responce. These pickups delivered and gave me more than I wanted! in addition to my requests, these pickups are the clearest most articulate pickups I have ever used. the string separation is amazing, and the bridge is as thick sounding as a P-90 but still sounds like a Strat pickup. I could not be happier with this set of pickups and the guitar they are in has become my #1 go to guitar for everything, regardless of style. i play blues, grunge, classic rock, punk, and hard rock and these pickups excell in them all!
