Description

This set was designed with the goal of spanning several Gilmour decades. The neck and middle are approximately 5.8k and the dual output bridge has two settings one approximately 7.6k the next 12.5k. All are made with ALNICO 5 magnets and a modern stagger to work with today's guitars and strings best. The middle is RWRP for quiet operation in the 2 and 4 positions. Check out the VooDooBlues set and imagine having an extra bridge tone The lower output selection of this set makes it very similar to the VooDooBlues set. This set has great flexibility for the traditional strat player as the neck and middle are the same as the 69 VooDoo set and this set played in the low output bridge setting is very close to the VooDooBlues set. All 3 pickups of the Echoes are "F" spaced 52mm. We suggest a 250k Push/Pull or 250k Push/Push pot for ease of use but a mini switch can also be used.

5 of 5 Simply incredible April 3, 2017
Reviewer: Chris from Japan
I've been playing a 70's Strat with Echoes fitted for a good few months now.  I'm amazed at the improvement in tone as well as how versatile the guitar has become.  The 2nd and 4th positions sound particularly wonderful.   Can't recommend them enough.  Will definitely be coming back in future.

5 of 5 How to add "soul" to an already nice axe April 28, 2015
Reviewer: Fabio Pasello from Milano, Italy
My 2004 Sadowsky Ultra Vintage S-style was doubtless a nice guitar, very well balanced. Too much balanced perhaps, since she lacked a bit of "soul" (I wasn't able to find a better word for that).
The Echoes set succeeded in bringing her to life; leaving poetry apart, I noticed these basic facts:
- The annoying odd order harmonics that often affect the G string are gone;
- The bridge pickup (both tapped and untapped) is finally worth to be used alone more than often, without sounding excessively harsh or thin.
A quick suggestion, not only to Gilmour fans: add a second pus-pull pot to engage the neck pickup (the so called 7 position switch), it sounds definitely well in parallel with the bridge one.

5 of 5 ECHOES - Awesome set May 19, 2014
Reviewer: Alejandro Sánchez León from Bigues i Riells, Barcelona Spain
One more total score from David Allen.
Echoes are a professional sounding set.
Slightly darker than Dovers but, with full piano-alike basses, excellent bell-alike middles, and clear but not harming trebles.
The dual output Echoes bridge is a MUST, IMHO.
How many times you felt your bridge strato pickup was a tad weak for your liquid solos, just push that push/push and the solos have the right punch, sustain and strength.
Cleans are Heaven and, driven, they have that slightly raw sound of Hendrix, but defined note-by-note.
This set made my backing tracks to sound really bad (good), they have STUDIO PROFESSIONAL QUALITY SOUND.
Thanks, David, for creating so perfect pickups!

5 of 5 WOW!!! October 26, 2013
Reviewer: Peter Walsh from Hollywood, FL United States
For years I've used stock pickups in my guitars. I was a fool.
These pickups are amazing.  While I expected a change, (especially in the bridge pickup), I was not expecting to find this much of a difference.
It was like cleaning your computer screen and finding out all the color that had been muted.
Most people will focus on the bridge pickup, and it is fantastic, but the neck and middle pickups are just incredible.
I always figured the neck pickup would just sound a bit muddy no matter what.  Not anymore.  Bright, clean, well defined notes played up and down the finger board.  Just tonal heaven!!
The middle pickup is the same.  I've never really used the middle pickup much, unless it's in the two or four positions with the bridge or neck.  That will change.  A whole new sonic palette of sounds from my strat.
Thank you, David Allen!!

5 of 5 D. Allen Echoes / David Gilmour PU's July 15, 2013
Reviewer: Tony Baugh from Hawaii
Wow. The new Echoes set are absolutely phenomenal!! I have been searching for that elusive Comfortably Numb tone for 30 years and have never been able to nail it until now, thanks to Dave Allen's mastermind and clearly superb ears. If you dig the tone of his VoodooBlues, then you will love this set with the addition of a unique bridge pickup which is switchable between BOTH Gilmour eras which is incredibly versatile, dynamic, woody and vocal, ranging from vintage bite to The Wall tones and onto his searing modern tones. Think basically the ability to go from Gilmour's FS-1 Animals/The Wall to his modern SSL-5 tones all in ONE pickup...and more. Not to mention these will easily do Hendrix and beyond. I would not be surprised if these even ended up in Gilmour's own beloved Black Strat. Still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor. Beautiful.

In fact, as added testimony, here's a YouTube demo just moments after installing them...

Aloha!
